One of Canada’s leading denturists, Tanya Little, leads the charge with 3D printed prosthetics
My name is Tanya Little and I have been a Registered Denturist for over 20 years. At our lab and clinic, we specialize in full removable prosthetic solutions: partial dentures, complete dentures, immediate dentures and implant support dentures. We are located in White Rock BC, which is about 40 minutes east of Vancouver on the coastline.Â
Our team currently consist of 3 Registered Denturists, 1 Registered Dental Technician, 2 administrative support members and a furry office greeter/therapy dog. Our digital journey started in 2016. We acquired the first desktop scanner for dentures in our province. From there we continually advanced with digital dentures and have watched it all get better and better. Desktop scanners, intra oral scanners, 3D printers and mills continue to progress.Â
Our lab currently carries three 3D printers from Asiga: MaxUV, Ultra and Pro4K. We have had other printers over the years, but the Asiga brand proves to be the most reliable, and open to over 500+ material choices. For us, the advantages of 3D printing include: a streamlined process where we can produce multiple detailed lab pieces all at the same time in a cost-effective manner. It comes down to: efficiency, speed and accuracy which turns into increased production for the business without compromising patient care.Â
“We knew we could rely on the Ivotion Base Print resin to be aesthetic, strong, accurate and repairable!”
With current advancements and a large selection of materials to choose from it can be hard to know what will work best for your business. I have worked closely with Ivoclar since I graduated from school and have never really deviated from their materials: impression materials, teeth, resins, articulators, processing systems – we have them all because they work and they work well! It was easy to select Ivotion Base Print resin because of the research and development Ivoclar puts into their products. We knew we could rely on the Ivotion Base Print resin to be aesthetic, strong, accurate and repairable! With a quick and easy post curing protocol and no need for ‘candy coating’ you can trim and go straight to polish with consistent results. What more can you ask for in a printed base resin?
We will continue to be involved with digital trends in the denture realm and see additive manufacturing continuing to go neck and neck with subtractive manufacturing. It’s obvious to see the advantages of digital dentistry and what it brings to us from a clinical and technical perspective. Digital dentistry really is a full circle process that ultimately provides the patient, clinician and technician with the best possible outcomes. Ivoclar has been a partner to our business over the years and now has a solution for all denture needs: analog, printed or milled. We are excited about bringing Ivoclar and Asiga together in our lab and clinic.
